This is just a short one.
The other day Ian was watching one of his favorite episode of Backyardigans - Race around the world that has really catchy songs and is about the friends racing each other in a long race (more like adventure race). After the show he notice my HR monitor laying on the counter. He grabbed it, then I heard few beeps as he started it up (and it complained about no HR and foot pod). Then he said "I'm racer daddy" and started to run circles between kitchen, living room and dining room. Each lap he pressed the lap button and after about 7 laps he said he had won and wanted a medal. I went to my office and grabbed one of my half marathon medals and gave it to him. He was so proud that he took the medal with him to bed that night. Moments like this reinforce my conviction that the training I do is not only for my own benefit... I always love to see him genuinely excited about sports.

New bike rider in the family
Ian started riding his new bike about a week ago. I was so proud of him when we went for a walk last week for the first time and he was biking almost the whole way (about 3/4 of a mile). This weekend we all went much longer walk (2 miles) and Ian took his bike along. We was cruising around us and was not afraid to ride down hill (well I had to hold him otherwise he would have had a bad accident). Dasa took few pictures during the walk that you can review below. He is very cute on the bike. It is not just any bike - it is fairly light and has a disc wheels that are quite aerodynamic. I got a huge kick out of him towards the end of the walk when he was leaning on his handle bars and said that he is riding just like me - he had pretty good aero position for a little kid :-).
Look behind me at the slope of the hill we were riding.
Zooming by the photographer downhill. I was barely keeping-up with him.

Thank you for the support Dáša and Ian
I want to make sure to thank my lovely wife Dáša and my son Ian for their support during the preparation for the race and cheering during the race. Without them I would have never completed this challenging race. I can promise that for the next several weeks I'll not be away on Saturday and Sunday mornings as much as I was during the training. For a while I'm not planning any long rides or long runs. And here they are - the biggest heroes of Saturday's race.
